Code Compliance:

Q. When should I use Danger, Warning or Caution on a sign?

A. OSHA and ANSI require that safety signs indicate the degree of hazard and define the specific action that, without identification, may lead to death or injury.

DANGER safety signs are used to indicate that there is an immediate hazard with a high probability of death or severe injury.

WARNING safety signs indicate that there is a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, could result in serious injury or death.

CAUTION safety signs are used to alert people of a potential hazard. The hazard may result in minor or moderate injury, but not death.

Additional Safety Sign Headers

NOTICE safety signs indicate the need to provide general information to avoid confusion.

SAFETY, THINK, and EMERGENCY headings are used with information about health, housekeeping, first aid, medical equipment, and general safety.

Q. Do you comply with ANSI and OSHA standards?

A. Yes, all product LEM Products Inc manufactures will default to be in compliance with ANSI and OSHA standards.

Q. Are signs, labels and tags required to meet OSHA and ANSI codes?

A. OSHA standards mandate that the workplace must be properly marked for employee safety.  Failure to comply with OSHA standards could cost your company thousands of dollars in fines or result in serious injury or death to an employee.

OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) was formed in 1970 to “save lives, prevent injuries and protect the health of American workers.”  (Link to OSHA LOTO standard? https://www.osha.gov/laws-regs/regulations/standardnumber/1910/1910.147)

ANSI Standard Z535 gives specific guidance for the creation and use of safety identification tags, labels and signage. ANSI’s Z535 signal words and associated design standards are made to interface seamlessly with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – making ANSI’s DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION and NOTICE standards the most widely used and accepted in the world.
